The world’s first Tamil Documentary & Short Film Festival was held in London from Friday, 26th October to Thursday, 1st November 2001 at Curzon Cinema Soho and EMD Cinema Walthamstow.

55 films were shown on Tamils, in Tamil and other languages, drawing upon the diversity of the countries they inhabit. The Festival attracted a broad multi-cultural audience and was well received both by film critics and film enthusiasts.

The Awards presented at the Festival were:

Best Director – Short Films
