நாகர்கோவிலிலிருந்து சூழலியல் , கூடன் குளம் அணுமின் நிலையம் பற்றிய விமர்சனங்கள் போன்ற துறைகளில் கவனம் செலுத்தி கட்டுரைகள் எழுதி வந்த அசுரன் காலமான செய்தியை நண்பர் சங்கரபாண்டி (sankarfax@yahoo.com) , நாகர்கோவில் எஸ் பி உதயகுமார் (drspudayakumar@yahoo.com) அனுப்பியுள்ள செய்தியைத் தொடர்ந்து அனுப்பித் தந்திருக்கிறார். எஸ் பி உதயகுமாரின் மின் அஞ்சல் இது.

I have just heard the bad news that Asuran has passed away. He was fighting kidney ailment for more than two years. Taking siddha medicine in Rajendra Hospital near Thuckalay, he was holding out all right. Some three weeks ago, he was transferred to KIMS at Trivandrum for dialysis and possible kidney transplant. We were all hopeful that he would persist in his valiant fight and emerge victorious. But the end came this evening, suddenly and quite abruptly.

Even as he was fighting death, he was writing passionate pieces on environmental subjects in various print and online publications. He was editing a monthly journal, Puthiya Thendral, and designing books and pamphlets. He was still campaigning against the Koodankulam nuclear power projects by sending SMS messages and coordinating the campaigners. Asuran and I have just completed four book projects that would speak of Asuran’s creativity, passion for writing and publishing (and of course, designing), and his anti-nuclear politics.

Asuran is survived by his wife, Kavitha, 3.5-year-old daughter Ilakkiya, parents, a brother and a sister.

May Asuran’s soul rest in peace!

அசுரனின் கட்டுரைகள் திண்ணையில் கவனம் பெற்றவை. அவர் உடல் நலம் இல்லாதபொழுது திண்ணை வாசகர்கள் உதவியது பற்றியும், உதவ முன்வந்தது பற்றியும் எழுதியிருந்தார். எழுத்தை மட்டுமே அறிந்த , முகமறியா நண்பர்களின் இந்தத் தன்மை நெகிழ்ச்சி அடையச் செய்ததாகவும் குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தார். அப்போதும் கூட அவர், ஆங்கில மருத்துவத்தினைக் காட்டிலும் சித்த மருத்துவம் மற்றும் பிற மருத்துவ ஆலோசனைகளைப் பெறப் போவதாக தெரிவித்தார். லட்சியங்களின் மீதான நம்பிக்கையும், அதனை அடைய தீராத உழைப்பும் கொண்டிருந்த அவர் உடல்நிலை பற்றி பொருட்படுத்தாமல் தொடர்ந்து இதழ்களில் எழுதி வந்தார்.

துயரத்தில் உள்ள அவர் மனவி, மூன்று வயது மகள், பெற்றோர், சகோதரர் மற்றும் சகோதரிக்கு திண்ணை சார்பில் ஆழ்ந்த அனுதாபங்களைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறோம்.
