திண்ணை

அதே குழந்தை உளத்துடன் பதில்
அளிப்பேன் உனக்கு,
பிறரைப் போல் நீயும் என்னைப்
பெயர் சொல்லி அழைக்கும் போது !
வீணான வாக்குறுதி அதுவே !
அதுவேதான் !
வாழ்க்கைச் சூழ்ச்சியால் கொந்தளித்துக்
குழப்பம் அடைவதா ?
முன்பு நீ என்னைக்
காணவரும் போது பதறிக் கொண்டு
நானோடி வந்ததும்
புன்சிரிப்போடு
பூக்களை நழுவ விட்டதும்,
விளையாட்டில்
கலந்திடாமல் சட்டென விட்டு
விலகியதும்
உனக்குச் சொன்னேன் அல்லவா ?
பின்பு தணிந்து போய்
என் போக்கிலே போனேன் !
இப்போது நான்
அப்படிப் பதில் சொல்ல நேர்ந்தால்
மரண எண்ணத்தை அறவே
துறப்பேன் !
தனிமைத் தவிப்பி லிருந்து
விடுபடுவேன் !
இன்னும்
உன்னைத்தான் நாடிச் செல்லும்
என்னிதயம் !
ஏனெனச் சிந்திப்பாய்.
நல்வினை ஒன்றுக் கில்லை
எனது
எல்லா நல்வினை கட்கும் தேவை !
உன் கை உதவி புரியட்டும்
என் உன்னத பணிக்கு !
பாய்ந்தோடும்
இந்தக் குருதி போல்
எந்தக் குழந்தையும் விரைந்தோடாமல்
ஏற்பாடு செய் !

With the same heart, I said, I’ll answer thee
As those, when thou shalt call me by my name–
Lo, the vain promise! is the same, the same,
Perplexed and ruffled by life’s strategy?
When called before, I told how hastily
I dropped my flowers or brake off from a game,
To run and answer with the smile that came
At play last moment, and went on with me
Through my obedience. When I answer now,
I drop a grave thought, break from solitude;
Yet still my heart goes to thee–ponder how–
Not as to a single good, but all my good–
Lay thy hand on it, best one, and allow
That no child’s foot could run fast as this blood.
