Dear Thinnai Editor, I have been reading Thinnai articles for the last two months. I feel most of the Thinnai articles are worth to read. At present most of the Tamil web sites are commercial sites. Thinnai always publish serious and standard articles and essays.

I observe some of the writers require more honesty and clear vision (without any partiality) when they write about caste and Religious matters. Some of them are repeatedly targeting certain castes and religion. Dear writers ( Not all of them)Please avoid such hatred. These days reading habit of the people is coming down day by day. So Presence of Website like Thinnai is more important. I encourage tamil youngsters in Dubai to visit your site.

On Sankarapandi, Sivakumar, Sonia Gandhi etc …

Sankarapandi has made blatant accusation against all the upper castes while criticizing Jayakanthan. In stead of countering his caustic casteist comments, P.K.Sivakumar and Mythili Neelavathi are diverting the focus to a discussion on male chavuinism.

How does it matter if Sankarapandi or even Sivakumar writes here supporting a woman to become a CM or PM. They can ‘t do anything for or against it. The best one can expect from individuals like them is not to be a male chavuinst in their attitude towards their wives, sisters and women colleagues and invariably most men fail in that.

Just because Sonia Gandhi or Mayawati becomes a PM or CM, things are not going to change for women. I grew up in Delhi and I saw the gory incidents where congress goondas raped Sikh women in front of their children and killed pregnant women when Indira Gandhi was killed. Dont say that Sonia Gandhi did not have any clue on who did it and who protected those goondas.

Indira Gandhi was in power for so many years and what did she do for the upliftment of women. She had such a brutal majority in parliament and all the state assemblies that she could have brought the constitutional amendment for reserving 33% of the seats for women. We would not have needed to face the casteist leaders like Mulayam Singh in parliament.

Indira Gandhi saw to that Nandini Satpathi, the first woman CM from Orissa did not survive in politics too long. Sonia Gandhi made sure that Mamata Banerjee was out of the congress. These two women leaders gained their popularity by their hardwork and individuality unlike Indira and Sonia who were promoted in politics because of the father or husband.

Instead of dreaming about Sonia or Mayawati to achieve power or expecting Sankarapandi or Sivakumar to write few lines in support of such proposals, women should be organized at the grassroot level to empower themselves. Until such time, casteist propaganda of leaders like Mulayam and people like Sankarapandi will always be heard.

Religious heads like Sankaracharya and Hinduthva intellectuals like Cho Ramasamy are also outright sexist and degrade the intelligence of women. They are no different from the black shirts and brown trousers that Mythili mentioned in her letter.
